Clwydian Range – dramatic upland frontier of North Wales: A case study about communicating the special qualities of Britain’s treasured landscapes
John Muir Trust member Ivor Coleman will describe a recent major project to communicate the special qualities of Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wales. Ivor was commissioned to lead this work by the Clwydian Range AONB authority and will present his personal view of the project, covering:
- The nature of Clwydian Range and what makes it special
- How effective communication plays an important role in ensuring special landscapes are maintained, treasured and enjoyed
- The importance of a sustainable approach, balancing the needs of conservation, recreation, community and tourism
- Discussion of wider issues raised, such as the nature of wild land, the importance of land designation and balancing the variety of demands on our protected landscapes
Ivor Coleman:
Ivor is a freelance writer, presenter and communications consultant. He specialises in projects concerning Britain’s treasured landscapes, reflecting his own love of exploring these areas. Prior to his current role Ivor had a 20 year career in corporate communications within the computer industry.
This will be an informal event with time to meet like-minded people
